Sope is one of BTS's most beloved odd-couple ships, pairing the sunshine-bright J-Hope with the famously low-key, sardonic Suga. Their personalities sit at opposite ends of the spectrum, and fans adore how they balance each other: J-Hope can pull a genuine smile out of Suga, while Suga grounds J-Hope's boundless energy. The ship has serious receipts. In 2016 the two formed a playful sub-unit and performed their self-made song "Otsukare" together, and the duo's name itself was coined within the group, with Suga noted for naming the pairing. Years later their bond turned into real collaboration: J-Hope featured in Suga's Agust D era, and the two publicly cheered on each other's solo work.
